Remember Funny Photo Friday?

So since I have been a total slacker when it comes to posting a funny photo every Friday, I thought today might just be the day I start back up...okay so today IS the day:)

You probably remember seeing this photo in the preview for this family, but alot of you may not have seen it...so that makes it okay. I told the kids to be silly and of course this was towards the end of the shoot. This is what I got. I love every kids idea of silly here. But as you can see the one with the big arrow pointing to her totally cracks me up! I would totally expect her to be giving me a girly pose like the other two on the left of the picture. That's why I love kids, they are so unpredictable at times. It's especially great when they let their super silly side shine through in pictures and in every day life. So enjoy this funny photo. Here's a picture of me, I found it and thought it was hilarious and thought you might like to see how awesome the 80's were! I'm not sure if this was my mom or dad's idea, but I think I was 5 years old here. It's so funny to see the decor because I remember all of it! Good times for sure! Just look at this little sweetie pie! Big blue eyes, and such a sweet disposition. He likes to talk and explore! Yesterday was his 1st birthday and what better than to have your very own photo session to document. It was funny because when his mom would sit him down he would just sit there and look around at first, but then when he discovered that he was free to explore it was hard to keep him still for even 5 seconds. He wanted to crawl off and pick up anything he saw on the ground. Well Hudson, happy birthday and I'm very honored that I was able to make memories for you and your family. It was a joy! On that note enjoy!!

Back for round 2 (Jones Family)

Let me first say that I had so much fun with these two! They were such a blast to work with and there were many, many laughs!! We had done their family session last week and we weren't able to get any of just mom and dad. So when Lynn emailed me and asked me if we could possibly try for the next weekend and do some quick shots of the two of them, I was more than willing because I know how important it is to have those pictures of just the mom and dad. Especially when you have little ones around all the time. Sometimes we need to remember who we were as a couple before the kids came along. Well I am so we glad we went back to do this. You can see the joy and love that these two have for each other. It was a perfect afternoon, no distractions and only time to focus on them, and trust me it shows!! There's no doubt in my mind that these two people were made for each other! I love when it's so apparent! So enjoy Lynn and Andy!!!

Look at this sweet family! These kids are just gorgeous, and I can't get over their eyelashes. They are so long and just beautiful! This is another old friend from high school. I am loving seeing all these people from the past. I love seeing their families and just how beautiful all of their kids are. If you will notice this precious little girl "who is a mini me of her mother":), ate up the camera....she was really getting into it. I love that! This sweet baby boy just turned one and couldn't be more handsome. Lynn, I'm so glad you allowed me to be a part of your beautiful family! Enjoy!

What an adorable couple these two were! I think I told them at least 10 times how cute they were. They are expecting their first baby girl in about 6 weeks. I loved seeing how in love these two were, and being able to capture that for them is such a blessing. Many years down the road when this baby girl is older and looks at the pictures of her mom and dad right before she was born, will be able to see how much they love each other and how loved she is. It was a little on the chilly side, but you would never know it by looking at these pictures. I love that! Thanks Jenni for being such a trooper, and thanks to Andy for being my sun blocker, human GPS, and for being comfortable enough to show me just how much you love your wife and baby girl on camera! Okay, I have alot of things brewing for Splendor Photography in 2010. A ton of ideas that are racing through my head non stop. The first thing I want to do is make more people aware of Splendor. Since everyone (almost everyone) is on facebook, I want to bump up the fan list. The Splendor facebook is where I do alot of interacting, posting new sessions...etc. So right now there are 159 fans as we speak. I want to get to 500 fans as my first goal. So once the fan list reaches 500, I will hold a drawing for a free session for up to 4 people. Everyone that is a fan of Splendor will be eligible for the prize.The only requirement is that once I do reach 500 fans, I will ask everyone who is interested in the drawing to put a comment on the facebook page. So, tell all of your friends to become a fan so that you can have a chance of winning. There is a direct link at the top of this blog in the link bar, it will take you straight to the facebook page! A session with Splendor Photography consists of :
*1.5 -2 hour session at the location of your choice
*A disc containing 20-30 high resolution photos
*A print release form allowing you rights to print

What can I say? This is one of my favorite babies to photograph. I was super excited when I was able to have her parents in on the pictures this time. It was really cold and really windy this day so we just stayed close to home, and I think that it totally worked! Plus we ran down the street and I got to use a few new places which I love! Can these kids be any more gorgeous? This was a quick but great session. I love how we had drama consisting of face plants into the wood floor ending in bloody lips, splinters in fingers, freezing babies, runners and walkers needing by, dogs, hip hop dance moves, and a potential lost child (he ran over to his momma) and we got ALL of these BEAUTIFUL pictures! Funny Photo Friday

Okay imagine setting up the perfect picture moment between a mother and her brand new baby girl, everything is right. The lighting, the sweet baby girl nestled up to her mother, the softness of the picture which represents such an intimate moment of bonding. All is perfect right there in that moment. For me, I am thinking in my head what a beautiful picture this will be, and the minute I snapped the camera.....baby EXPLOSION! All over mom, and onto the floor. No one panicked, grandma and I helped take the baby and clean everyone up. That is not what makes this picture today's Funny Photo Friday. I chose this picture because mom's face says it all! It all happened so fast that once we were done cleaning up mom and baby, I looked at my camera....we all laughed so hard at mom's face. It was perfect. I really think we laughed for a good 5 minutes. Mom was a great sport about it. I think this has to be one of my favorite in the moment pictures! Hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

Celebrating a life

You might recognize the first family, I did their family pictures a few weeks ago. They called me again to take the pictures of the extended family as well. The focus of the pictures were to celebrate this new life that was brought into the world by this beautiful young couple. I love the joy that you see in each person's face that is holding this baby boy. You can definitely tell he is loved and he is probably going to be one spoiled little boy with this many people that love him. I took alot of pictures, because there were so many people there. Today I had the privilege of taking pictures of this precious 9 day old baby girl. Her family was just a delight to be with. We had alot of laughs and big brother couldn't be any cuter, you'll see. While we waited for mom to finish feeding the baby, we played a little game called don't laugh. He couldn't help it, he laughed every time and his smile is enough to melt you. This baby girl was very alert, so no sleeping baby pictures for this session. She wanted to know what was going on, and probably why we kept moving her. That's okay because what we did get, is just simply beautiful. Thank you again for allowing me to share in this special time in your life.

This big and beautiful family came with a plan in mind on how to get through this session with ease. The mom's had a plan, and I loved that! Now because this was a big family session and I took a million pictures, I am going to preview the kids and one big family picture, because I would end up putting 50 pictures on here:). These kids seriously cracked me up, they were all VERY well behaved and also very sweet, and as you will see VERY funny in their "crazy" picture. Oh and on another note the mom's play pokeeno once a month with me, and I love those two women! They are a BLAST!

The family was a an absolute joy, that sweet baby girl who danced every time her little donkey sang his song, and her sweet expressions. I loved the old truck, the trees, the leaves that covered the ground, and that fact that I drove to Chico, TX for this one! These are the dates that are left in order to have your pictures ready in time to order Christmas Cards and print your pictures for gift giving. Of course you can always book for dates after this if you are just wanting some family pictures done, or some of your children, or whatever you need!

This is an old friend of mine, we both worked together at a bank a long time ago. We were also pregnant with our first child at the same time. She had this handsome young man 6 weeks before I had my daughter, so I have had the opportunity of watching Mr. C grow into this young man you see here. I will say every year that goes by, he just gets more handsome. We went out for an early morning session before the craziness of Saturday baseball games. I'm glad we did! I am in love with the locations that I used today. The gorgeous fall colors, and the old Dodge truck. Amazing!

They have a precious one month old baby boy who pretty much slept throughout the entire session except when we took his clothes off. Well here it is....Funny Photo Friday again! Yay, I love this day because it's a fun post. Today's pictures are of my good friend from high school. They came into town the last part of summer, and of course it was so hot out but we were able to get great pictures. These two pictures immediately caught my eye when I sat down to edit their session, I loved them so much I ended up giving them to her as part of her session. I just love her face in both of these pictures. The first picture, I have to explain...she wasn't grossed by her adorable son kissing her, it was that he as giving her a huge open mouth kiss, slobber and all. The second picture I love her face because it screams "family photo session". You want your kids to be perfect for your pictures, but kids are kids and sometimes they just aren't having it. Now don't let his fit fool you, we were able to get some really great pictures of him!

1. Totally random, just happened to capture something really funny or unique.

3. A picture that just happened to sneak up on me after I have completely finished editing a session.

Ok now for the very first Funny Photo Friday, we have a 3 week old baby boy. I think his momma must have been watching Austin Powers because he was totally giving me some Dr. Evil....this is just so hilarious. Look at his sweet face, he's totally into character.

For the second Funny Photo, we have a sweet baby girl. She has the most hilarious facial expressions. During our session, I had a hard time focusing because she was so funny and so sweet. So of course this one caught my eye, after I had delivered her pictures to her parents. I had to share this one somehow:)

I really enjoyed meeting this family! They were all so sweet, and mom and dad were up for anything! I love that! The two little ones were sweet as can be, and "little mister" as they call him was a boy on the go. He wanted to explore everything, and there was so much to check out! The sweet girl was definitely up for taking some pictures:) SO CUTE, the entire family! I really enjoyed it!

I wish I could show you more pictures, but it's late and I'm tired:) The mom is my best friend, and makes me laugh like no one else, besides my honey Steven! Things are a changin' around here

Have you noticed all of my indecisive changes over the last few weeks on my blog especially, and my website? Well you probably thought I was crazy or had adult ADD, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to my work and how it is displayed. I wanted to get my website exactly the way I wanted it to be, and it finally is! YAY! and my blog is getting there!

I am starting to get really busy, and I'm loving it! I love my clients, because they bring something new and beautiful to my work. I love how unique every single person is, and I love to capture that in them. If you haven't read my "About Erin" section on my website, I talk about how I love your face. I really do! I love what your face says about you. I love that your face is exactly what God designed it to be! And it never fails, I am always able to capture that special part of you! I love what I do. It is a true passion that God has given me, and I do not take any of it for granted. To be honest, sometimes I still have to pinch myself because I think this is all a dream. But thank God it's not just a dream. It's a gift that He birthed in me a long, long time ago. Even when I didn't even realize it.

I feel so blessed and honored every time someone calls me or emails me to book a session. It confirms to me that the gift that has been given to me, is recognized. I am so thankful for that. It has definitely been a learning process over the last year. But how else do you grow in your craft? You take everything in and learn everything that you can about it. Not taking anything for granted, you store away in your heart the things you learn, and cultivate them. Before you know it, you start seeing it all come together and grow into what God has designed it to be.

So I didn't know I was going to write a thankfulness blog when I started writing this, I thought I was just going to ask you not to think I am crazy for all of my changes. BUT, I am so glad I did. I am so thankful!

Oh and the really fun part was seeing and catching up with mom and dad, we all were in the same graduating class in high school and it has literally been 11 years since I have seen them. Senior 2010

For this session we took a trip over to Deep Ellum, one of my favorite places to take pictures of cool kids like this one! Although we're pushing October, it was definitely hot, and I was wishing for that 60 - 70 degree weather again. But that's coming so no worries. We walked all over the place looking for just the right spot. Thanks to his mom, she carried all of his clothes and his cap and gown the whole time. But I had a blast doing what I love, and I really enjoyed meeting this awesome, bright, outgoing kid! Today I had the honor of photographing this sweet, sweet one week old baby. She was such a great baby, although she didn't like us messing with her too much. She was just precious, and I am so glad I got the chance to take her first set of pictures! Thanks to her parents, who went along with everything I had in mind :) Hope you enjoy, because I love them!

Today I had the pleasure of taking these pictures of a sweet little one that really wasn't into the whole picture taking thing...but you would never know it by looking at his sweet face. He belongs to another old friend all the way back from middle school! Wow! Her and her husband have a beautiful family, and I am so happy to have had the chance to see them and catch up and capture his little innocence and sweetness! So enjoy your preview! I love his little mouth in the second picture :)

What can I say about this beautiful mama to be. This is another old friend from high school, she is expecting baby #2 and I have no doubts that this baby girl will be just as beautiful as her mommy and big sister! It was so good to see my old friend all the way back from middle school! I was especially excited that she asked me to take her family pictures. We haven't seen each other in years and you would have never guessed it. Deidre and Troy, you seriously have some handsome little guys, and such a beautiful family! Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking pictures for this beautiful mama to be. She and her hubby came out to take a few last pictures before baby girl comes in early September! Although she is stunning and glowing in these pictures, it is still late August in Texas and so so hot. She didn't let the heat get to her, she was a natural. And can I just say that her husband was adorable with her and you can totally tell he is already in love with that baby! So congrats to you guys, it was a pleasure taking these beautiful pictures for you. Keep a watch out for baby girl's newborn pics in just a few weeks... (as always click on image to see larger size)
